Family sues to take service dog to school

Family sues to take service dog to school
(By Sarah Newell Williamson, Hickory Daily Record) Catawba County Schools is facing a federal lawsuit from the family of a pre-kindergarten student alleging the child's service dog is not allowed in class with him.

The suit, filed last week, says that Ayden Silva's dog is not permitted to go to class with him at Mountain View Elementary despite the school system knowing the 4-year-old suffered from symptoms as a result of fetal alcohol syndrome as early as Feb. 24, 2010, six months before Ayden was scheduled to begin school.
